You may wonder exactly what a quick chase is, so we would like to tell you more about this service we provide.

If you have a prefabricated chimney, you know that it consists of metal pipes. Many people do not like the looks of the metal pipe coming through the roof and have a chase designed and constructed to cover the pipe so that it looks like a regular chimney. Our designers at IBD Outdoor Rooms came up with the idea of a quick chase that can be easily constructed to quickly build a chase for prefabricated chimneys. Our quick chase fills the need for not only the new construction of a prefabricated chimney, but it can also be used as part of a retrofit application of an appliance and as a replacement for a damaged and rotted old chase.

How does the construction of this quick chase work?

Our quick chase product is available in a couple of different configurations. We have a custom configuration which depends on the installer’s measurements of the pitch of the roof, the outside dimensions and the height of the quick chase, and the projection and size of the top band that we will build into the quick chase. We also have a two-part system of quick chases that comes with a pitch adapter, which allows the easy adjustment for common pitches.

How is the quick chase constructed?

Our quick chases are constructed with concrete boards that are adaptable for veneer stone, veneer brick, or stucco to bond directly to the board. Our staff at IBD Outdoor Rooms can help you select the facing that will work best for your home. All of our quick chases are built with stainless steel flashing that is attached to the framing members and inserted behind the exterior concrete boards. This flashing will protect your quick chase from water penetration that can cause damage and deterioration.

Do you also make chase covers?

Yes, IBD Outdoor Rooms will manufacture and ship a chase cover with your quick chase unit. We make chase covers from hot dip or paint grip galvanized metal, stainless steel, and copper. Your chase cover will be custom made to perfectly fit your quick chase to protect it from the elements of weather.

We would like to tell you more about our quick chase system and how it can easily upgrade the exterior appearance of your home.

What is a quick chase?

A quick chase is a design concept developed by IBD Outdoor Rooms that simulates the look of a masonry chimney. The quick chase system can be used in several different ways, which include as a part of a appliance retrofit installation, as a way to enclose an unattractive metal flue pipe, as a replacement of a rotted wood chase system, and as a factory-built chase system in new construction.

How is the quick chase constructed?

We use our 22-gauge galvanized metal flashing to construct the quick chase, and then the metal flashing is covered with a half-inch concrete board. At an additional charge, you can upgrade from galvanized metal to stainless steel. The flashing is built into the chase, attached to the framing members, and inserted behind the concrete board. We can also construct a chase cover to prevent water from leaking into the home. Chase covers are available in hot-dip galvanized metal, paint-dip galvanized metal, powder-coated, stainless steel, and copper.

Can the quick chase system be customized?

While IBD Outdoor Rooms does sell a 2-part system in bulk that comes with a pitch adaptor that is easily bolted to the chase and adjusted for common roof pitches, we can also custom build our quick change system. The installer will predetermine the pitch of the roof, the outside dimensions of the quick chase, the height of the quick chase, and the size and projection of the top band that will be built into the quick chase.

In what materials can the quick chase be finished?

Our quick chases can be covered in the weatherproof materials of your choice. Whether you would like veneer stone, veneer brick, stucco, or siding, you have any option of material that is designed to withstand the outdoor elements.

Can I install the quick chase system myself?

For safety reasons, the National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) Standard 211 code recommends professional installation of chimney venting systems. IBD Outdoor Rooms is happy to help you find a certified technician near you to install your quick chase system.

Quick Chase Overview

What Is a Quick Chase?

Got an ugly metal chimney pipe jutting out of your roofline that you’d like to give the look of a masonry chimney or that you’d like to clad in siding? Or do you have a rotted-out chase system that needs replacing, or a chimney chase that is in need of a major overall? We have a solution for you.

There are advantages for homeowners who choose a prefabricated chimney. However, the metal chimney on top of your house likely isn't one. Meet our Quick Chase solution.

There are advantages for homeowners who choose a prefabricated chimney. However, the metal chimney on top of your house likely isn’t one. Meet our Quick Chase solution.

Our company serves a lot of purposes and provides many different outdoor products for our customers, but one of the things we’re most proud of at IBD Outdoor Rooms is how we’ve pioneered what we call the “quick chase.”

As manufactured chimneys and fireplaces began to increase in popularity, we recognized the need for this product, which is designed to cover up an unsightly metal chimney, also known as a “prefabricated” or “manufactured” chimney. Our custom-built quick chases give the look of a masonry or other built-in chimney, but without all the construction cost and headache associated with building, maintaining—and supporting the weight of—a real masonry chimney.

Our quick chase even has the durability of a masonry chimney; the system carries a limited lifetime warranty.

How the Quick Chase System Works

Depending on your preference and budget, you can order a quick chase made of either 22-gauge galvanized steel or 22-gauge stainless steel framing members that are then covered with half-inch concrete board.

Stainless steel chimney flashing is built into the chase and attached to the framing members, inserted behind the concrete board. Our quick chase system can either be custom configured by your installer or purchased with a two-part system that includes a pitch adaptor to work with most common roof pitches.

Following installation of the system by a qualified professional, your quick chase can be finished with veneer stone, veneer brick, stucco, siding, or any other weatherproof material that you’d like. In addition to the quick chase system, we can also ship you a high-quality chase cover designed to fit your chase and keep rain, debris, and animals out of your chimney, extending its life.
