Protection from Water with Chases and Shrouds

Water can be the most damaging thing to your masonry, whether inside or outside. It can lower efficiency of your fireplace, causing your fire to be more difficult to light and to burn more wood than necessary. It can stain your masonry, rust your mechanical parts, and even deteriorate the masonry itself–breaking apart the brick and mortar until it gaps and crumbles. When you’re planning and designing your outdoor fireplaces and chimneys, make sure you’re also considering water protection. Protect your investments and your home. Add value to your home with IBD Outdoor Rooms, and protect that value with a chase and shroud.

Chase CoversProtect From Water with Chases & Shrouds

When you order your unit, make sure you purchase all the parts necessary to bring it together properly. When you order your chase cover and shroud with the rest of your unit, it will all arrive together. When your IBD Outdoor Rooms delivery arrives, it is ready to assemble. All you have to do is get the order right, and we can help! You can choose stainless steel or stainless steel with a copper dress out skirt. Many homeowners prefer the second option because from the ground it looks like the entire thing is copper.
Chase Covers with Hole – If the unit you’ve chosen has a flue pipe, you need a chase cover with a hole. This will protect the stone from water damage while also allowing the smoke to escape.
Chase Covers without Hole – This chase cover is for units that are “pipeless” or vent-free. They don’t need to vent, but the chase cover adds a complimentary look to your fireplace.

Shrouds

The shroud fits together with a chase cover. Where the chase cover protects the chimney from water, the shroud protects the flue opening itself, AND completes the look you may be looking for. Chase shrouds come in stainless steel or copper, with an optional powder coating of stainless steel and many different styles, including Roman, Grecian, Artisan, and Gothic. Make sure you check them out before making your choice.
Gothic Chase Shroud Extension – This model is used to give a chimney more height and massive appearance. The base can be Roman or Grecian style to compliment your style.

Care and Installation

When your delivery arrives, it will be ready to install, but we do not recommend doing the work yourself. Once your order is completed, and BEFORE your unit arrives, make sure you contact a professional in your area that can install the unit. Only a licensed contractor who is NFI-certified should install fire units, fireplaces, and chimneys. This will ensure any warranties are honored and that the work and the unit adheres to municipal and federal safety codes.

Get Your Fall Project Started Now!

Spring may be for cleaning but summer is for barbecues and fall is for bonfires! Now is a great time to start thinking about your fall projects. Your outdoor fun doesn’t have to end when cool weather hits. At IBD Outdoor Rooms, we have great options for your outdoor space that are durable, practical, and stylish.

Your Dream Space

When you begin thinking about your fall project, the sky is the limit. You can build up with a new pergola to lounge beneath on a cool evening while stars are out. You can choose to remodel and upgrade your fire or kitchen appliances, or start a new construction! Whatever you’re planning, start with IBD Outdoor Rooms for ideas and models to choose from. Next, hire a certified contractor for building and a certified technician or chimney sweep to install your fire appliances. At IBD Outdoor Rooms we turn fantasy into reality and safety is our top priority.

Outdoor Kitchens

Many homeowners find it cost-effective and beneficial to install an outdoor kitchen. It helps to keep a party from getting overcrowded in the house. It helps to keep noises, odors, and heat from getting inside. An outdoor kitchen also creates a great focal point for a landscape. Since it will likely become the focal point of your yard, make sure it’s a beauty! When you shop IBD Outdoor Rooms, you have control over the shape, size, model, and finish of your outdoor kitchen islands, cabinet units, ovens, kamado grill spaces, and more.

Outdoor Fireplaces

The kitchen will likely strike the interest of the Grill Master, but the fireplace or fire pit will get all the attention from everyone else. You can choose a fire pit that fits the size and shape of your space and select a finish that fits your personality and your landscape. You can also get it installed before fall. Only if you start this summer!

Beautify for Fall

You may not be interested in outdoor entertaining at all, but want to increase the aesthetic. You can invest in your property’s look by installing a new mailbox, lamppost, pergola, or even a custom structure or building. If your mailbox is drab and rusted, or even leaking or collecting bugs, consider a new mailbox. Our mailboxes and lampposts are sure to increase your curb appeal, are designed to “break-a-way” if hit by a car, and can be matched to your landscape through a variety of finishes. Many of these extras are perfect for a do-it-yourself project and can be completed before cold weather hits this fall.

If it’s a pergola or pavilion you want, it will be best to build in the summer. Winter ground can be difficult to work with and to install an adequate floor and foundation. Check out designs or discuss custom structures with an IBD Outdoor Room expert, and we’ll make sure it arrives in time for construction! All you need is a contractor to do the work.

Choosing the Right Finish For Your Outdoor Kitchen

While you’re planning your dream space outside you don’t want to leave anything to chance. The appliances, fire pits, counters, and patio flooring should all fit together to your liking. The materials you use can determine the beauty, safety, and comfort of your outdoor kitchen—even the life of the kitchen. You want materials that are rated for outdoors, durable, scratch resistant, and stain resistant.

When you have come to the end of your outdoor kitchen design, the finishing touch is the finish itself. IBD Outdoor Rooms offers two beautiful options that come in a variety of designs and colors. While deciding, consider what you’ll be doing in your outdoor kitchen. Would you benefit from a smooth finish? Would stone match your space more perfectly? The price is always a factor as well. An IBD Outdoor Room associate can answer questions regarding price anytime you’d like to call.

Granitech

Granitech base is pure natural granite granules that are mixed with a clear polymer. This allows the granite to bond to the substrate. This finish is a six step process that results in a durable and beautiful, natural finish. For a specific color you can bring a sample to one of our experts and they can produce any desired color using a two week process of color matching. Once the product is finished, it is low maintenance and should last the life of the unit.

  • First, the IBD component is sealed with adhesive at all joints and fasteners to insure a smooth, secure base.
  • Next, a primer is applied for a flawless surface.
  • Your technician will use a trowel to apply the first coat of granite and polymers over the unit.
  • When the first coat is dry, the technician will apply a second coat of granite and polymers, this time under pressure to create proper texture.
  • When this second coat is dried, your technician will apply IBD’s unique seal coat to lock the granite on as an “overcoat” which reduces scratches and stains.

Stone and Brick

Many homeowners opt for the more traditional outdoor look of brick and stone. With stone finish we are better able to match to the terrain if desired. The Granitech offers nine beautiful options, but the possibilities with stone are seemingly endless. While you’re making plans for your outdoor kitchen, consider the benefits of each finish, the durability of both, and both installations.

IBD Outdoor Rooms only sells the best products rated for outdoor use and provides professional installation every time.

Outdoor Kitchen with Island - IBDODR.com

Outdoor Kitchen Islands

We started our business designing outdoor kitchen islands, and we continue to specialize in this area. We work hard to be sure that your island will work in the outdoor space you choose, fits your decor, and meets all safety requirements and local building codes. We offer six different basic designs that can be customized, mixed, and matched to accommodate your outdoor kitchen area. No matter which of these six designs you choose, we can make any adjustments or additions you need to create your ultimate outdoor kitchen island. We will carefully take every measurement to ensure the plans are drawn exactly to scale to be sure your island is correctly designed from the beginning. We can incorporate your grill into the island, even if you have a Kamado-style cooker such as the Big Green Egg. We also provide both stainless steel and Naturecast cabinet units to give you the storage area you need in your outdoor kitchen for convenience and aesthetic purposes.

Wood-Fired Ovens

If you have always wanted to cook a wood-fired pizza at home, IBD Outdoor Rooms can design the perfect wood-fired oven unit for your outdoor kitchen. With five different design options, we can also add extra components to your wood-fired oven, such as a wider base cabinet and a firewood holder. The added bonus of having a wood-fired oven in your outdoor kitchen is that it can be used as a fireplace throughout the year, which allows you to enjoy your outdoor living space even when the temperatures drop.

Outdoor Fireplaces

To add the perfect focal point to your outdoor kitchen, IBD Outdoor Rooms can design a fireplace or fire pit that suits your tastes. We even offer eclectic Art of Fire fireplaces that will give your backyard a unique and artsy look. We do strongly recommend that you hire a chimney and fireplace technician who is certified by the National Fireplace Institute (NFI) or the Chimney Safety Institute of America (CSIA) to install any fireplace or fire pit we have designed. This will protect you for important safety reasons because these technicians know exactly what they are doing. Additionally, many manufacturers’ warranties will be voided if you do not hire a certified technician to do the installation job.

What Exactly Is a Quick Chase?

At IBD Outdoor Rooms, we specialize in adding to the beauty of the exterior of your home. Of course, we are known for creating outdoor living spaces such as outdoor kitchens and fireplaces; however, our design team is always thinking of ways to increase the curb appeal of a home. One of these ways is our quick chase system. An idea developed by our designers, the quick chase can be the perfect answer to unsightly rooftop pipes. We would like to tell you more about our quick chase system and how it can easily upgrade the exterior appearance of your home.

What is a quick chase? - Concord NC - IBD Outdoor Rooms

What is a quick chase?

A quick chase is a design concept developed by IBD Outdoor Rooms that simulates the look of a masonry chimney. The quick chase system can be used in several different ways, which include as a part of a appliance retrofit installation, as a way to enclose an unattractive metal flue pipe, as a replacement of a rotted wood chase system, and as a factory-built chase system in new construction.

How is the quick chase constructed?

We use our 22-gauge galvanized metal flashing to construct the quick chase, and then the metal flashing is covered with a half-inch concrete board. At an additional charge, you can upgrade from galvanized metal to stainless steel. The flashing is built into the chase, attached to the framing members, and inserted behind the concrete board. We can also construct a chase cover to prevent water from leaking into the home. Chase covers are available in hot-dip galvanized metal, paint-dip galvanized metal, powder-coated, stainless steel, and copper.

Can the quick chase system be customized?

While IBD Outdoor Rooms does sell a 2-part system in bulk that comes with a pitch adaptor that is easily bolted to the chase and adjusted for common roof pitches, we can also custom build our quick change system. The installer will predetermine the pitch of the roof, the outside dimensions of the quick chase, the height of the quick chase, and the size and projection of the top band that will be built into the quick chase.

In what materials can the quick chase be finished?

Our quick chases can be covered in the weatherproof materials of your choice. Whether you would like veneer stone, veneer brick, stucco, or siding, you have any option of material that is designed to withstand the outdoor elements.

Can I install the quick chase system myself?

For safety reasons, the National Fire Prevention Association (NFPA) Standard 211 code recommends professional installation of chimney venting systems. IBD Outdoor Rooms is happy to help you find a certified technician near you to install your quick chase system.
